Finale Music Notation Software

There are two major players in the notation business — Finale and Sibelius. From what I can determine, both get the job done and have their advocates. (I own Sibelius but haven’t had time to fully exercise it.) Whether reading music is a crutch or an advantage, it is something that has been useful for me. Changing notation packages is a fairly major undertaking, so I have stayed with this application for more than 15 years — probably longer.

Now that Finale has a version for the iPad, the idea of reading music live without having the music blown off the stand has come true. Of course, when it rains, that’s another story.
