Roland Fantom XR Synthesizer

It’s getting a bit long in the tooth, but after trying more than a dozen hardware synthesizers over the years, I usually just bring along the Roland Fantom XR. A 1U rack mount unit, I’ve installed a couple of Roland’s sound packs — especially the Orchestra module — that made it an acceptable accompaniment unit for live performance. I’ve paid to have it repaired once, even though the repair cost would have paid for a more compact unit with some higher quality features. The market, though, has moved to support DJ live performance, which tends to be a very different complement of sounds than what I prefer.
