New Sounds Collection of Blake-Inspired Music

New Sounds Collection of William Blake-inspired Music

Does the eagle know what is in the pit?

William Blake asked this in The Book of Thel, but may well have asked whether we are prepared to retrieve slivers from truth from the great sparking miasma that is the omnipresent electronic onslaught. What can be pulled from the pit on this occasion is a @WNYC New Sounds @NewSounds collection of music inspired by the poetry of William Blake.

The hour represents a careful and wide-ranging bit of curation, especially the show-ending flourish: ELP’s inspired version of “Jerusalem.”

To listen is to learn what is in the pit. As the Doors’ Jim Morrison, also excerpting The Book of Thel, explained at the “End of the Night”:

Some are Born to sweet delight
Some are Born to Endless Night
