Violinist Lucy Morganstern is conversant with the repertoire of the American Ballet Theater @ABTBallet and the American Symphony orchestra. She plays for them. But, as the New York Times reported this week, she also brings this skill to grieving pet owners. The NYT bio reveals that the Flatbush, Brooklyn woman also thinks of herself as a “pet healer” and “memorialist.”
For the vast majority of violinists who have toiled without orchestral gigs or playbill credits, it may be time to dust off that instrument case and practice arpeggios again. The work of memorialists is likely as vast and as nuanced as the human sense of loss.
